Each year, the American Red Cross presents the Acts of Courage Awards to those residents of Summit County who have acted courageously and selflessly in a time of emergency. Often at great risk and sacrifice to their own personal safety, comfort, and well-being, these ordinary individuals have acted in a heroic manner by reaching out to help others in times of greatest need. Disasters were averted and lives were saved. Because the actions of these individuals embody the ideals, principles and purpose of the American Red Cross, they will be honored during a special reception and dinner on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. 

The Red Cross is currently accepting nominations for the Acts of Courage Awards. To nominate a hero, click on the "Nominate a Hero" link below or download the mail-in Nomination Form. From the nominations submitted, the Red Cross will select the finalists and present awards in several categories, including one for Professional Rescuers.
